Once you’ve completed the high-priority upgrades at TH14, as mentioned in our “TH14 Upgrade Priority” post, you should be prepared for TH15 upgrades. TH15 offers significantly better value for your upgrades and is the ideal Town Hall level for a rusher to camp at for a while. Now, let’s jump into the upgrade priority for Town Hall 15.
Start with high-value upgrades
Monoliths, Spell Towers, Army Camps, and Barracks offer the best value for upgrades at TH15, so that’s where you should start. Adding two Spell Towers and a Monolith to your base is sufficient to deter TH14 attackers with a strategically rushed base.
Here’s what your Day 1 at TH15 should look like:
- Laboratory – First Builder
- Monolith – Second Builder
- Barracks – Third Builder
- Army Camps – Fourth and Fifth Builder
- Blacksmith – Sixth Builder
If you have a Book of Building, I suggest using it on the Laboratory so you can start Lab upgrades on your favorite troops, like the Electro Dragon. Once the Monolith is built, use that builder to construct the first Spell Tower and then the second Spell Tower.
Barracks is a high-value upgrade at TH15 due to the addition of the Root Rider. This new troop is currently dominating attack strategies at TH15 and TH16. Army Camps offer insane value for the elixir and time invested, with the addition of +20 new housing camp slots, making it a significant offensive addition.
The Blacksmith receives an upgrade to level 8, unlocking the Haste Vial plus 3 new levels for epic equipment. While Haste Vial is decent equipment, the real value of this upgrade comes from the 3 new levels on the epic equipment, which can greatly buff your heroes’ offensive power.
The second phase of high-priority upgrades
Here is the list of high-priority upgrades at TH15:
- Laboratory
- Monolith
- Barracks
- Army Camps
- Blacksmith
- Clan Castle
- Pet House
- Spell Towers
- Storage Buildings
- Heroes (two at a time)
- Giga Inferno
- Inferno Tower
- Eagle Artillery
- Scattershot
- Air Defense
Once you have completed the first phase of the high-value upgrades, you should move on to the second phase of important upgrades. Completing the upgrades mentioned in this phase should sufficiently prepare you for TH16.
The Clan Castle comes at the top of the list in the second phase, as it adds an extra +5 housing slots, offering decent value in terms of attacking enemy bases. The Pet House introduces four new pets: Frosty, Diggy, Poison Lizard, and Phoenix.
While the first two pets in the Pet House of TH15 are great, especially Diggy, I am not a fan of Poison Lizard and Phoenix. Poison Lizard can work well in some Warden Walk and Queen Walk strategies, but the universal pets that can complement almost any attack strategy are Diggy, Unicorn, Frosty, and Yak. If you followed my upgrade priority for TH14, your pets should be at level 5 by now.
I would recommend unlocking all the pets at TH15 but focus on upgrading the ones that synergize well with your attack strategies. Take your favorite pets to level 10.
Next on the list of high-priority upgrades are Spell Towers and Storage Buildings. You get the most value out of your Spell Towers once they reach level 3, which allows you to set the Invisibility Spell. This spell is the most commonly used on Spell Towers, so focus on upgrading your Spell Towers to level 3 to maximize their value.
Storage Buildings are a necessary upgrade if you don’t have a Gold Pass. However, if you actively purchase a Gold Pass, you can place this upgrade at the end of the priority list.
Heroes and managing Dark Elixir
If you exclude the storage upgrades from the second phase of high-priority upgrades, you would use four builders in the second phase. The other two builders should focus on heroes. Heroes require a decent amount of Dark Elixir at TH15, and you also have pets to upgrade with Dark Elixir, so it might not be feasible to upgrade two DE heroes at a time.
Therefore, it’s best to upgrade the Grand Warden and Archer Queen together first. Bringing your Archer Queen to level 85 and Grand Warden to level 60 is sufficient. By the time these two are completed, your pets would have attained decent levels, especially if you actively use the Pet Potion that you can purchase with Raid Medals.
This is the ideal time to focus on upgrading the Barbarian King and Royal Champion. The Barbarian King should be upgraded to level 85 and the Royal Champion to level 35. These upgrades are adequate to have decent heroes for TH16.
Defense Upgrades
Here are the priority defense upgrades at TH15:
- Monolith
- Spell Towers
- Giga Inferno
- Eagle Artillery
- Inferno Towers
- Scattershots
- Air Defenses
As mentioned earlier, you can achieve the most defensive value at TH15 by building and upgrading the Monolith and Spell Towers. These two defenses can mitigate attacks when strategically rushing your Town Hall. In Clan Wars, they can deter most TH14 attackers if you have a well-designed base.
The Giga Inferno is another high-priority upgrade after the Monolith and Spell Towers. A level 5 Giga Inferno has an increased range, which can play a role in defending your base. Eagle Artillery, Scattershots, and Inferno Towers are always high-priority upgrades and should be prioritized before moving on to TH16.
Among the usual defenses, the Air Defense stands out as a high-value upgrade, so I would recommend upgrading Air Defenses to their TH14 level. Other defenses such as Cannons, Mortars, Wizard Towers, Archer Towers, and so on can be kept at the level they were at TH13.
Regarding walls, it’s best to have half of them at TH13’s level and half at TH14’s level. TH13 walls offer a decent 11,000 hitpoints and should be sufficient for TH15, especially since Root Riders and air attacks are common at this Town Hall level, rendering walls less critical. Among the traps, it’s recommended to upgrade Air Bombs and Giant Bombs, while the rest of the traps can be disregarded.
